Asia Argento grew up in Rome Italy. Her family is made up of actors, and she has also been doing both professions. In 1985 she debuted in Sergio Citti's Sogni e bisogni. The role she played was the main one in the film of Cristina Comencini's Zoo (1988) and also appeared as part of Michele Soavi's 1989 movie The Church. Red Wood Pigeon, directed also by Moretti in 1989, featured her part as Nanni Moretti's daughter. Close Friends, written and directed by Michele Placido in 1992, was the point where Asia's acting career started off. From playing young girls, she shifted to perform more challenging and mature characters. Cannes International Film Festival received the film with great awe. Trauma (1996) as well as The Stendhal Syndrome are others she's collaborated on with her renowned father. The Phantom of the Opera is her third movie alongside her father, with her first two movies being Trauma and The Stendhal Syndrome. Asia was the director of her first feature film Scarlet Diva (2000). The film was a collaboration with Asia and screenwriter/actor Linda McCartney. In May of 2000, the film premiered in Italy and around the globe. The film won awards during the Williamsburg Festival of Brooklyn, New York. In 2001, following the directing of numerous music videos, she gave birth to the first of her daughters, Anna Lou. In 2002, she appeared in The Red Siren by Olivier Megaton along with Jean-Marc Barr, as well as the action-packed film directed of Rob Cohen, with Vin Diesel. Asia is the creator of numerous short stories which were published in various magazines.
